With up to twelve hours of dance on some of our busy days, my schedule definitely does take a toll on my body. There are many approaches to rejuvenate my aching muscles such as a massage or an ice bath. But let's face it, it is not possible reach certain aching muscles on my back by massaging myself nor dipping into an ice bath in this kind of weather. Growing up in Korea, where people are educated from young age on home remedies, I'd like to share a way to wind down the day on a note that will make you fall asleep with a smile.
My method to ease the pain at the end of the day is called in Korean, Bahn-Shin-Yok, which literally translates to "half-body bath". First, fill your tub up to about your belly button when you sit in a tub (Sorry if you guys live at the dorms, but you should definitely try this at home). The water should not be super hot, but just in between lukewarm and warm, where you feel comfortable. Next, find you favorite magazine to read or tunes to relax to. Enjoy and relax for about 30 minutes. You should start sweating 10-15 minutes into it. Afterwards, take a shower and drink a glass of water. You will fall asleep like a baby, I kid you not!

The studies have shown "half-body bath" does not put the water pressure on your entire body like a full bath. It is excellent for circulation, muscle relaxation, fatigue relief, and opening up your pores. Guys, I know we are so caught up with the pressure of pursuing our careers on top of rehearsing to finish with a bang. Try this and find your peace physically and psychologically.
